Development of automobile chassis platforms to build the next generation automobiles.
GLM Co.,Ltd develops automobile chassis and complete cars based on those chassis. Traditionally, the automotive industry across the world has been dominated by a dozen or so large automobile groups, protected by two technical entrance barriers: internal combustion engine and chassis development. Off-the-shelf availability of replacements for the engines, such as batteries and fuel cells, has removed the internal combustion entrance barrier. GLM plans to remove the other chassis barrier by developing and selling flexible off-the-shelf chassis to encourage new entrants to the automotive industry, and thereby disrupting the status quo.
COMPANY STORY
Origin
The founders of GLM saw the decline of domestic manufacturers in their previous positions at a BPO company in the consumer electronics industry. They wanted leverage the inherent technical strengths of Japan and start an exciting manufacturing business from scratch. The founders used the network of Kyoto Universities ex Vice Chancellor Kazumi Matsushige in the electric vehicle space to found the company.
Strength
GLM is able to provide their original EV platform consisting of the chassis and moving parts. They also possess strong technologies such as the motor and battery as well as the control unit which they have developed through collaborations with Japanese automobile suppliers.
