UTEC- The UTokyo FSI Research Grant Program is a program administered under the UTEC University of Tokyo Future Society Collaborative Fund, which was established in February 2020 with a donation from UTEC to the University of Tokyo Foundation. The program provides research support to researchers conducting cutting-edge research at the University of Tokyo in order to subsidize basic research that will serve as the foundation for future scientific research.

The features of this program are as follows:
[1] The program does not require the grantee to prepare a report after receiving the grant so that the grantee can concentrate on his/her research as much as possible,
[2] The program requires the grantee to submit an article to an outstanding academic journal (in the academic research field of humanities and social sciences, this includes publishing an academic book that can be highly evaluated internationally), and the program does not require the grantee to submit a research paper to a leading academic journal.
[3] Emphasis is placed on basic research, and the possibility of short-term practical application or commercialization is not sought.
