COMPANY PROFILE
Enabling a society where people are recognized and empowered through their true capabilities, not their credentials
Calaris, Inc. is a startup pursuing the mission “From Credentials to Caliber” — maximizing the value created by people and organizations. With the spread of generative AI, conventional evaluation methods such as document screening and structured interviews are increasingly unable to assess a person’s true capabilities (“Caliber”).
Calaris develops and provides “Calaris Assess,” an interactive conversational AI assessment that implements a methodology for identifying essential thinking and execution skills through dialogue, systematized by a management team who served as recruiting evaluation leads at a strategy consulting firm.
Through a multi-agent AI architecture — including “Navigator,” which designs and facilitates conversations, and “Thinker,” which analyzes candidates’ responses in real time to generate incisive questions — Calaris pursues assessment accuracy approaching that of experienced interviewers. Going forward, Calaris plans to expand its product suite to “Upskill” (developing identified capabilities), “Bridge” (connecting people with the right opportunities), and “Org Transformation,” aiming to build a global talent assessment platform.

COMPANY STORY
Origin
CEO Shohei Kishiya worked in sales at a Japanese electronics manufacturer and earned an MBA in the U.S. before spending approximately six years at a global strategy consulting firm. Serving as a lead for recruiting evaluations and assessing transformation talent, he became convinced that human potential far exceeds what credentials show. As generative AI rendered conventional hiring and evaluation processes dysfunctional, he founded the company in August 2025 to implement in society a mechanism for assessing people’s true capabilities through dialogue.
Strength
An assessment methodology systematized within an organization known for the most rigorous evaluation of transformation talent, combined with the product development capability to implement it with AI. A collaborative multi-agent AI architecture — handling natural conversation design and facilitation, and real-time analysis of responses — structures and quantifies candidates’ underlying thought processes rather than their answers themselves. Pilot studies confirmed cases where candidates that conventional AI interview screening had failed to identify were rated highly, as well as reduced variance among evaluators; the accumulated dialogue and assessment data itself becomes a source of competitive advantage.
