On September 11, 2024, Tomotaka Goji, Managing Partner, CEO and President of UTEC delivered a keynote address at Startup Nation Korea 2024, held in Seoul.
"Startup Nation Korea" is an international symposium that has been held since 2022, aiming to further invigorate South Korea's entrepreneurial culture. This symposium brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including the South Korean government, universities, research institutions, investors, entrepreneurs, media, and students, to engage in discussions about the future of South Korea's startup ecosystem.

This year's event was co-hosted by Seoul National University, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and the JoongAng Ilbo. In addition to the presidents of both universities and the chairman of JoongAng Ilbo, many key figures driving South Korea's startup ecosystem, including representatives from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST), also participated.
Amid the participation of many key stakeholders, Goji delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "The Startup Ecosystem and Deep Tech Investment in Japan." In his presentation, he explained the current state of Japan's startup environment and investment trends in the deep tech sector.

Furthermore, a panel discussion was held on the theme of "The Role of Corporations and CVCs (Corporate Venture Capital) in the Startup Ecosystem." Goji noted that the presence of corporations and CVCs in Japan's startup ecosystem has grown significantly over the past decade, and he emphasized that cross-border global collaborations will further increase in the future.
Goji also pointed out that, despite the geographical proximity, the interaction between Japan and South Korea's startup ecosystems has not been sufficient. He expressed hope that cooperation in the startup sector will further develop, in line with the recent increase in social and cultural exchanges between the two countries. UTEC will also actively work to strengthen collaboration between Japan and South Korea moving forward.
