Green Earth Institute: Japan Airlines, Japan Environmental design and GEI to manufacture aircraft fuel made from old clothes as raw material.

Green Earth Institute (GEI), together with Japan Airlines and Japan Environment Design, will start manufacturing aircraft fuel made from used clothes.
Aeon, etc. will collect used clothes using collection network of 12 retailers.
Fuel is made from cotton contained in clothing using microorganisms, aiming for a test operation in 2020.
While global warming prevention is required such as the Paris Agreement going into effect, replacement of fossil fuel is urgently needed.
This is the world’s first challenge to create fuel from used clothes.
