TOKYO, JAPAN (June 30 2010) - Technology-focused seed and early stage venture firm University of Tokyo Edge Capital (UTEC) has announced that it finalized its fundraising for UTEC2 Limited Partnership at approximately 80 million dollars. Since the second fund’s inception in last July, UTEC has involved themselves in the formation of several new ventures utilizing Japanese academic and corporate scientific and technological seeds, in various fields covering clean-tech, healthcare and information technology, aiming at global markets from the outsets. UTEC is currently one of the few venture funds in Japan that raised this amount of money from financial institutional investor LPs.
